Availability

Will the Outlook AVA add-in be available in the new Outlook (Outlook Web)?

Yes. The AVA add-in is designed for Outlook Web.

Will the classic (desktop-installed) add-in remain available for users of classic Outlook?

Yes. The classic add-in remains available in parallel for users who have not yet migrated to Outlook Web.

Will the AVA add-in be available for all versions of JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

Yes.

Is the AVA add-in compatible with Mac and PC?

Yes, the AVA add-in is compatible with both platforms.

Which Office suite will the AVA add-in be compatible with?

The AVA add-in is compatible with Office 365.

Is the AVA add-in compatible with Google Workspace (Gmail)?

No. Not at this time.

Will the JurisEvolution and JurisPRO Outlook AVA add-in be installable directly from the official Microsoft Store?

Yes.

AVA Availability

When will AVA be available?

AVA will be available in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO very soon.

Does the AVA add-in need to be installed on each workstation?

Yes, the add-in must be loaded on each workstation.

Will AVA be available when drafting documents in Word?

AVA will live within JurisEvolution and JurisPRO as well as within the add-ins. A new Word add-in is coming soon.

Has the Barreau du Québec approved the use of AVA?

Has the Barreau du Québec approved the use of AVA?
The Barreau du Québec does not issue formal approvals for AI tools, but has published a guide on the responsible use of generative AI. Are client data protected from access by American authorities?

Juris Concept ensures compliance with the highest standards of security and compliance regarding the use of artificial intelligence. No request or data provided for a request is stored or used to train the models used.

Will JurisEvolution and JurisPRO users' data be used to train the AI model?

No request or data provided for a request is used to train the models used.

In the event of an outage or major incident, how does Juris Concept ensure data recovery (cross-region replication)?

No recovery is available for responses generated via artificial intelligence.

What is Juris Concept's overall approach to AI security?

Juris Concept ensures compliance with the highest standards of security and compliance regarding the use of artificial intelligence.

Email & Attachment Filing

Is it possible to rename an email before saving it in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

Yes, it is possible to rename the email at the time of saving.

Can the name of attachments be modified when saving them in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

Yes, file renaming is possible.

Is it possible to save attachments in a different directory than the email?

Yes.

Is it possible to associate multiple directories and naming conventions with the same email?

No.

If two emails share the same name generated by JurisEvolution or JurisPRO, does the second overwrite the first?

This follows the standard behaviour throughout the software: the user will be able to choose what to do (overwrite, replace, or keep both, or create a version for those with advanced document management).

In what format are emails saved in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

The format is .eml.

When saving an email, are attachments saved with the email or separately?

Separately.

Is it possible to add the email as an attachment to a JurisEvolution and JurisPRO activity?

Not directly from the AVA add-in, but it is possible to attach the email to a JurisEvolution and JurisPRO activity once it has been saved to the matter (as can be done with all other documents).

Can the default email title be configured based on the sender rather than the subject?

The default title is the email’s subject line. This default option is not configurable at this time.

Based on what elements does AVA suggest filing folders?

AVA bases its suggestions on the emails involved (senders, recipients, correspondence history).

Costs

Will there be additional fees for using the new Outlook AVA add-in?

No.

What is the cost of using AVA, and how will billing be structured?

For Phase 1 available soon, AVA is offered free of charge to all users (5 tokens per user). The pricing model for subsequent phases will be communicated in due course.

Training & Timeline

Will training be offered for the new AVA add-in?

The AVA add-in will be documented in the help center. Training hour packages can also be purchased if needed.

Is there a timeline for the upcoming AI integration steps in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

A timeline will be presented in the coming weeks and will be available on the AVA page on jurisconcept.ca.

AI & AVA Features

What large language model (LLM) is AVA based on: Claude, Llama, Mistral, or other?

AWS’s native infrastructure and connectors allow us to switch models at any time based on the needs of different requests. These models are fine-tuned to deliver fast, high-quality results while keeping costs reasonable.

How does the AI behind AVA work, does it rely on generative artificial intelligence or programmed intelligence (predefined rules)?

AVA relies on state-of-the-art generative AI models.

Will AI enable data searches across all matters?

Using AI for this particular feature is not currently planned. We are however working on an improved version of the advanced document search.

Will the AI review feature also apply to time entries?

Yes! You will be able to use AVA to review time entry descriptions. With the time entry assistance feature coming soon, you will also be able to obtain an AI-suggested time entry description.

Is it possible to define words or expressions to avoid in AVA's suggestions?

For the foreseeable future, for standardization and security reasons, request configurations will not be accessible to users.

What tool powers the translation feature?

When suggesting time entries, does AVA only analyze Outlook emails or also actions performed directly in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

In the upcoming version, AVA will analyze and compare Outlook events against time entries in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO. Suggestions based on JurisEvolution and JurisPRO activities are not planned for 2026.

When suggesting time, will AVA propose rounded and readable durations, or highly fragmented values (e.g., 0.01 hours)?

Time entry suggestions will reflect the durations of Outlook events.

Will it be possible for clients to connect JurisEvolution or JurisPRO to other external applications via API keys?

This is currently under consideration; we will get back to you on this topic at a later date.

Will it be possible to sign in to AVA using SSO (single sign-on), with the same credentials used for the firm's other tools?

Yes, SSO sign-in will be supported.

Does AVA manage email and Word templates the way the Word add-in did?

No. Not at this time.

Automatic Document Filing

Will it be possible to automatically file documents according to an internally predefined naming convention?

While this process is not automatic, it is highly flexible and fast when directories and classifications are properly configured by the firm.

Other Features

Is it possible to filter the displayed matters by area of law (e.g., administrative law only)?

Not directly from the AVA add-in at this time. However, JurisEvolution and JurisPRO access rights are maintained, so for example, a user who only has access to administrative law matters will only see those matters.

Can the date display format be customized (e.g., year/month/day)?

The date display format is not customizable at this time.

Is it possible to configure a 24-hour reminder?

If the question is “Can a reminder activity have a duration of 24 hours?” the answer is yes: simply click the small timer to remove the start and end time and transform the activity into an all-day activity. If the question is “Can an automatic reminder be set for 24 hours from now?” the answer is no.

Will the reminder codes already configured in JurisEvolution and JurisPRO be carried over by default to the new AVA add-in?

Yes, they are carried over as defaults by the new AVA add-in.

Is it possible to preview an email by double-clicking it from the JurisEvolution and JurisPRO interface?

There is an “All Emails” view in the Documents tab that opens a preview section at the bottom.

Do email templates now support the insertion of tables?

Does the AVA add-in only allow email filing, or does it also allow sending emails from JurisEvolution and JurisPRO?

The AVA add-in currently lives within Outlook and actions are taken directly in Outlook. Office 365 connection features within JurisEvolution and JurisPRO are coming soon.

Do Outlook reminders still go through an intermediate Gmail address?

This is no longer required if the “iCalendar Calendar Synchronization” feature is enabled at the license server.
